Personal year,
month and day
The cycle numbers, with the arithmetic shown — and both conventions for when the personal year turns over, which is where two calculators quietly hand one person two answers. What the numbers mean is a reading, and this page does not write one.
The arithmetic, in full
- Personal year — birth day + birth month + the year, reduced to one digit.
- Personal month — personal year + the calendar month, reduced.
- Personal day — personal month + the date, reduced.
Some sites reduce each part before adding and some add everything and reduce once. It makes no difference: the digital root of a sum is the digital root of the sum of the digital roots, so both routes always land on the same number. That is arithmetic, not a convention, and it was checked across every birth date and year this page supports rather than assumed.
Where it genuinely differs: when the year turns
One school turns the personal year over on 1 January. Another turns it on your birthday. Before your birthday those give different numbers; after it they agree. For most people, most of the year, they disagree — and almost no calculator says so.
Both are shown here whenever they differ, exactly as the Kua page shows the February boundary. Which one is yours depends on the practitioner you work with, and that is a question with an answer, not a mystery.
What a cycle number is not
It is not a forecast. It is a position in a nine-year cycle, and it is the same position for everybody born on that day of that month. Anything beyond that — what it means for your work, your family, a decision in front of you — depends on the rest of your chart and on the situation you are actually in, which is what a reading is for.
The planet each number rules is named beside it, because that is the part that carries the sense of the number and it is the same attribution used across the rest of this site.
What this cycle means for you, rather than for everybody born that day.
That part is a reading, and it is given by a person — Lubna Faraz, who practises numerology, vastu and palmistry. The calculators here stay free; nothing is held back behind it.
